We were very happy with our experience at Thái Tuấn. This tailor specializes in the traditional Vietnamese dress, the Áo dài, and my wife had one of these made within 24 hours. The dress turned out perfect, in terms both of look and fit. Unlike other shops that had been recommended to us by the hotel staff and which we tried first (Yaly, Be Be Tailor), this one did not feel like a mass factory catering primarily to undiscerning tourists. Instead, they really took their time to give thorough advice.

Worst customer service. Shopkeepers have a not-so-subtle way of telling customers that they are too large for their dresses. One of the locals told me that this is considered a "luxury" brand, which is hard to believe. Walking though Old Town this morning, I found a gorgeous Vietnamese-style traditional dress, beautiful turquoise color with gold gingko leaves embroidery. I asked the shopkeeper if I could try it on and he gave me a condescending look up and down, finally replying that the dress is too small for me. And that's it...no suggestion of altering the dress. Or searching the store for a larger size. Or even providing alternatives. So we walked out. My companion (Vietnamese local) suggested that we go back to the shop a second time in the evening to inquire. And the same thing happened with a different sales person! We couldn't believe it...I guess this shop is too good for our money. If they could only provide service to match their prices.

They did a really good job with finding some suitable clothes for me and they were able to tailor them in as short time as one hour. I was happy with the shop and will go back
